“Santa Maria Aquamarine” refers to the most vivid blue Aquamarines, originally mined in the now-defunct Santa Maria mine in Brazil. Then in 2004 a new source was briefly unearthed in Africa that produced small but intensely blue natural Aquamarine in the same vein- and these are perfect examples that we have been holding onto for a decade. This set was purchased by a client who wanted her March birthstone, but wanted a color closer to Sapphire blue. What you give up in size for these Santa Maria gems, you certainly make up in stunning azure color. The pendant is mounted in a vintage style halo mounting, while the earrings are presented a bit more simply.
