Madagascar Color Change Blue Garnet & Diamond Ring

A common line in jewelry stores: “Garnets come in every color of the rainbow except blue.” This was true, until the 1990s when a rare variety of color changing Garnet were found in Bekily, Madagascar. These color change Garnets appear a teal or indigo color in cool daylight, and a purple or raspberry red in warm incandescent light. As with all gems, there is a wide quality gradient, with most gems exhibiting weak color changes, large flaws, and little blue color. So this particular gem is truly an exceptional find: it is eye-clean, changes color easily and often as you move between light sources, and the cool side is a stunning blue (not green). We made this ring for a client over 20 years ago, and recently purchased it back from their estate, so we are excited to be able to offer this top quality phenomenon Garnet a second time.
