Are they sapphire? Tanzanite? a synthetic? No- these awesome earrings feature natural Iolite. Iolite is strongly dichroic, meaning each gem contains two colors, a bluish violet and colorless, which is why many people know them as “water sapphires.” These gems were cut to ideal proportions on the blue axis of the crystal, resulting in superior sparkle and a good depth of color. It should be noted that these hail from the new Tanzanian find, where the Iolite has a stronger blue hue, whereas the older finds in India and Sri Lanka are more grey-purple. We set these beauties in 14k gold bar style settings that complement the color nicely without overpowering the size of the stones.
Details: 14k yellow gold earrings with 1.50cttw round Iolite from Tanzania.
