Burmese red Spinels can achieve a depth of color and brightness that is almost impossible to find in any other red gemstone. These particular stones were purchased more than 10 years ago from the initial finds in Mansin, Burma. Prior to the 1990s most red Spinel came from Mogok, the same mines as the famed Rubies, and were a dark blood red. What makes Mansin stones unique is that they are a lively medium pinkish red, with an intense color, and with no dark side- hence the moniker “Jedi Spinels.” This set is especially fine, as the gems are eye-clean and perfectly matched. We made the ring for the client first, then sourced the pair of pear shape Spinels for earrings several years later.
