Custom Australian Opal Ring in Platinum & Yellow Gold

This custom two-tone ring is crafted of platinum and 18k yellow gold and set with a fiery Australian Opal. This Opal hails from Lightning Ridge and has a grey base tone which allows the play of color to pop! This particular gem has a steady blue-violet color, then at certain angles it comes alive with a broad flash of green and red (see last photo for color in natural light). Due to the directionality and movement of the Opal, we designed a ring mounting with flowing lines and curvature. A graduated row of channel set baguette diamonds leads to the eye up to the Opal, following the lines of platinum “ribbons” for a pleasing effect. The whole ring was also designed to sit low on the hand and be comfortable to wear- it could even be an engagement ring if worn with care.
