Product Description

Look there- on your lapel! Is it a bird? A plane? A grouse? A cormorant?!? No matter what type of bird the maker intended this to be, this is one adorable antique adornment. This stunning brooch was crafted somewhere in Europe in the later 19th century (it features a set of partially illegible hallmarks on the pin catch) out of rosy-yellow gold with fabulous patina. Every millimeter of the brooch is detailed- from the feathered wings to the clawed feet, each portion of the bird is adorably anatomically correct. The bird is captured in flight and has a piercing gaze, accented by an old mine cut Diamond set flush in the face. It measures a substantial 1.5 inches across and weighs a weighty 11.7g- this is a substantial statement piece from the late Victorian era. While it was originally worn on a lapel or bodice-front, it could easily be converted to a pendant or necklace, just contact us for details.

Details: antique Cormorant bird brooch in solid 14k rosy yellow gold set with .03ct mine cut Diamond (SI IJ) with textured and patinated accents, circa 1900.
