Product Description

This pendant features the most intensely saturated Russian Demantoid Garnets we have ever seen! Popular around the turn of the 20th century, Demantoids were mined in the Ural Mountains of Russia and prized by jewelers for their high dispersion and intense green color (similar to their cousins, Tsavorite). This piece was designed as a quatrefoil, similar to a clover, with an old Mine Cut Diamond in the center with swirls of round white Pearls emanating from the it, each holding a prized Demantoid. These are not small stones! The pendant measures an inch long and the stones have a large presence on the neckline. This piece is a classic example of Art Nouveau style, where organic forms and textures (like flowers, pearls, green hues, etc.) combined to make an artistic statement in jewelry. This item started it’s life over 100 years ago as a brooch and was converted into its current more-wearable pendant form by us.

Details: 14k yellow gold pendant conversion set with .10ct old Mine Cut Diamond (SI IJ) and .50ctw round Demantoid Garnets (with horsetail inclusions, proof of Russian origin) and seed Pearl accents, circa 1900.
