Product Description

This unbelievably cool pendant is a wearable piece of natural history. Crafted in yellow gold, the pendant is set with an oval upper piece and a pear drop which are hinged and dance while worn. They are each set with cabochons of clear rock crystal and sandwiched between them are layers of butterfly wing that mimic the finest gemstones. On one side, the piece is set with green, orange, and pink wings which are speckled black and arranged to create a symmetrical pattern. On the reverse, deep blue and purple wings are laid down first, with a whole white moth laid over the top for contrast. These iridescent butterfly wings mimic the finest black Opals, and were commonly used in jewelry around the turn of the 20th century as interest in the natural world expanded. This reversible piece is executed with the finest craftsmanship, with top quality materials, and is in pristine condition- perfect for the collector. Entomologists or butterfly catchers, look no further- you will be attracted to this one like a moth to a flame!
