Mid-Century Platinum, Diamond & Sapphire Engagement Ring

This amazing engagement ring was made by recycling a pre-owned 1950’s platinum mounting and setting one of our gemmy Sapphires as the centerpiece. Rather than replicating a classic in its entirety, we decided to get the oval Sapphire east-west for a slightly modern Cartier-esque interpretation; the tapered baguette Diamonds are the classic understated accent stone here. The center Sri Lankan Sapphire is a fabulous example of the species: a bright medium-dark blue without any undertones, well cut and brilliant, with excellent clarity. Sapphires in the pure blue hue, with medium to dark saturation, act as a neutral on the hand and can fit into any wardrobe, making them our best selling colored gemstone in engagement rings.
