We custom designed this ring for a client several years ago, and when she stopped by to get it cleaned we fell in love with the gem all over again! Bicolor Sapphires are a product of color zoning, which is where two different shades or colors are found concurrently in the same crystal. This can be highlighted during the faceting process to make a two-tone effect in the finished gem. It is very rare to find a Sapphire crystal that contains colors on opposite sides of the color wheel, as the blue and orange are colored by different trace elements that both must be present for this to occur- a freak of nature! Our client chose to set this stone within a custom yellow gold mounting that protects the center stone and makes it a perfect everyday conversation starter.
Details: 14k yellow gold custom ring with 2.10ct untreated bicolor Sapphire and .30ctw Diamond accents.
