Most clients seeking an Aquamarine are looking for a light blue gemstone. Collectors and connoisseurs look for gems with as dark of a blue shade as possible, but many also collect this rare mint-green shade, which is where the name “Aqua-marine” came from: the look of sea water. This gem was sourced from a newer deposit in southern India and has pronounced pleochroism, with turquoise, powder blue, mint green and teal shades dancing within the excellently cut oval Aquamarine.
