color change garnet mounting

Indigo Garnet Ring

One of the eccentricities of the gem world is the fact that the garnet family does not produceĀ a blue gem despite the broad range of colors seenĀ in the many different garnet varieties.Since the mid 1990s, rare color-changing garnets have been found in Madagascar but these gems are very scarce. It appears that a new source has been found, somewhere in East Africa, as we have seen a slight rise in availability of these amazing gems.

This ring features a large garnet that changes from a beautiful grey-blue color to the raspberry color seen predominantly in the picture here. It is set in a simple forked mounting and is great for the gem enthusiast who wants to wear their little treasures.

Details: 14k white gold with 1.44ct color change garnet and .24cttw diamond accents.
