Some of our most interesting projects are restorations of antique and vintage items; sometimes on items we hope to re-sell, but in this case we were restoring the sentimental ring of a client. This was a particularly difficult repair due to the enamel work which was missing in some areas, and damaged in others (see the third picture for original condition). Furthermore, the channels of gold holding the enamel were worn and damaged so any enamel we replaced would flow out and look sloppy. Thus we had to touch up the channels, poor them with melted glass, then attempt to clean up any messy areas. The client knew we could never restore the factory-original look, but we were able to breathe new life into the design and make it 90% better. While we were at it, we re-built the bezel on the center Diamond and tightened it so it is secure for another 75 years of wear.
Details: 14k yellow gold gent’s ring with .50ct round Diamond and black enamel accents.
