Huge Australian Black Opal & Diamond Cocktail Ring

This amazing estate ring came to us by way of the estate of a local Opal collector who had purchased the gem loose in Australia in the 1980s, then had us mount it in the 1990s. The Opal is known as a grey-base or semi black Opal due to the dark grey body color of the gem. It features a kaleidoscopic array of rainbow color- red, green, orange, blue, violet, gold- all shimmering across its surface. This Opal is particularly fine due to the broad-flash and block pattern (nearly harlequin) which produces huge chunks of vivid color. This is a solid Opal, not a doublet or triplet, which makes that much rarer. The large Opal is framed with large Diamond accents- almost 2cts worth! Despite the large size of the ring, it sits low to the hand and is comfortable to wear. This is certainly a cocktail ring and can be seen from quite a distance! Black Opal fans, look no further.
