Antique “London Football Association” Gold Soccer Medallion

Few items come across our desk that we’ve never seen before- but a solid gold Football (soccer) medal is one of them. This amazing medallion came to us just as you see here, but we suspect it was initially suspended on a piece of velvet and pinned to a lapel. In the current form, this gold medallion can be worn on a chain for a beautiful, vintage gold necklace. The piece is cast in 15k yellow gold with British hallmarks, additional proof of British origin if “London Football Association” wasn’t enough! One side has a decorative border, the other side has a the emblem of the London Football Association – the body overseeing all of the football (soccer) clubs in Central London- with two dragons flanking a shield. Underneath that, it reads “Challenge Cup” which was a historical tournament of the London club teams (read more here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Challenge_Cup ). The hallmark tells us this was made in 1926, when Chelsea FC won the cup. So own a piece of British Football, and Chelsea Club, history with this beautiful pendant – easily worn by man or woman alike.
