Product Description

This fantastic ring is a modern-antique hybrid wherein we salvaged a fantastic 1930’s engagement ring mounting and set our own Sapphire in the center. The ring came to us by way of an estate and this mounting, in original unaltered condition, had sat in their vault for 50 years! We sourced this natural Sri Lankan (aka Ceylon) Sapphire in a medium blue hue to be the focal point of the design. The sapphire is an unusual hue that actually deepens in natural light (see last photo), and whose optimal cutting make it sparkle like crazy. The Sapphire is set in white gold double claw prongs which was a quintessential, Cartier-inspired look from the Art Deco era. The prongs mold into a rich yellow gold shank that is covered in finely detailed engraving work, featuring both coveted orange blossom flowers and vines down the sides. This is the ideal late-Deco engagement ring for someone who loves blue, or who wants to celebrate the September birthstone in all its glory.

Details: 14k yellow gold ring set with precision cut 1.14ct oval Ceylon blue Sapphire (heat treatment only) and orange blossom engraving, mount circa 1930s.
