Antique Jugendstil Ring with Rose Cut Diamonds

This antique Diamond engagement ring is one of the most unusual pieces we have ever offered for sale. Crafted in patinated 12k rosy yellow gold sometime around 1895 in northern Europe, this is a quintessential “Jugendstil” design. The Jugendstil movement was the Germanic counterpart to French Art Nouveau: an artistic and design movement influenced by nature and the budding modern age, a rebut to industrialism. This ring was hand made, and it shows. The two rose cut Diamonds are set in custom heads and twinkle even in the lowest of light. We think these Diamonds likely predate the ring, but sadly the history is unknown. The stylized flowers that come up the side of the ring and cross at angles is adorable, and very pretty on the hand.
