What is Tungsten and Tungsten Carbide?

When Tungsten is processed with carbon and other elements it is transformed into Tungsten Carbide (WC) between 8 and 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. What if a Trew Tungsten ring gets stuck on your finger, can it be safely removed if necessary?
Yes, first try removing by soaking your hand in a bowl of ice water for a minute or two, then apply a heavy lubricant like petroleum jelly on the finger between the ring and the knuckle, hold the ring with a cloth and gently pull with a rocking motion.
